The learner can:
- Select 1 sewing needle appropriate for the task
- Cut a suitable length of thread
- Thread the needle
- Tie a knot in the end of the thread
- Select a piece of material suitable for the task
- Find out from an appropriate person about a method for the stitch
- Secure the thread to the material using the given method
- Sew a straight line of simple running stitches
