What the learner needs to know, understand or be able to do
The learner will:
Develop speaking and listening skills related to the world of work.
Develop reading and writing skills related to the world of work.

What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome
The learner can:
- Follow instructions to carry out a task in a work situation on two occasions
- Demonstrate polite manners and greetings when working with people in the workplace
- Write a range of messages to someone in the workplace through a range of mediums
- Hold a telephone conversation with someone in the workplace for different purposes
- Ask at least six questions to someone in the workplace to find out information
- Read information text linked to health and safety in the workplace, webpages of businesses and instruction leaflets
- Identify verbs in reading material and explain what they are
- Read and demonstrate an understanding of a range of subject specific vocabulary related to work
- Complete a job application form
- Produce instructions describing appropriate dress and hygiene for a work related task
- Spell twenty job related words
