The learner can:
- Listen to two or three news reports
- Identify headings and subheadings and explain why they are significant
- Explain the difference between fact and opinion
- Explain the purpose of news reports and who writes them
- Participate in discussions to identify the who, what, where, when why aspects of report writing
- Write a heading for a report
- Write an introductory paragraph identifying the key event or incident
- Write three paragraphs giving details about an event or incident
- Write a concluding sentence or paragraph
- Include one quotation using reported speech
- Give evidence and examples to support information
- Write in 3rd person, past tense
- Caption or label a photograph, diagram or illustration
