Assessment criteria
What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome
The learner can:
- Explain why it is important to wash hands throughout the cooking process and the steps to washing your hands
- Identify hygiene rules within the kitchen and why it is important to follow them
- Identify at least three possible dangers within the kitchen and what do to if they occur
- Identify how to store food correctly in the fridge and freezer
- Select a recipe and make an amendment; eg substituting an ingredient
- Use cooking skills and demonstrate safe use of equipment when following a recipe
- Cook a recipe at least three times, showing more independence each time
- Demonstrate an understanding of food safety and hygiene when following a recipe
- Demonstrate use of understanding of correct cleaning methods for equipment and kitchen areas
