Assessment criteria
What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome
The learner can:
- Demonstrate which kitchen items are used for what and how they are used
- Demonstrate two steps of self-hygiene required before carrying out meal preparation
- Identify tinned, fresh, frozen and non-perishable foods
- Identify how and where to store different types of food
- Demonstrate how to find expiry dates on foods and the differences between use by and best before dates
- Identify different ways to tell whether a product is still fresh to use
