What the learner needs to know, understand or be able to do
The learner will:
Be able to select an age appropriate story to read to younger children.
Be able to create at least three different activities to help younger children with understanding the story.
Assessment criteria
What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome
The learner can:
- Choose a story that is age appropriate for a group of younger children
- Ensure that the topic of the story is appropriate for the group
- Give two reasons why the story is appropriate for the age of the group (e.g. content, illustrations, length of story)
- Create interactive activities that will engage younger children in the story (such as puppets and games to accompany the story)
- Produce topics to engage the group of learners in conversation around the story
- Devise and produce activities inspired by the story for the children to do after they have read the story
