The learner can:
- Take part in a sensory experience linked to a model text
- Retell a model text on at least two occasions using chosen form of communication
- Join in with actions to support retelling a model text on at least two occasions
- Draw or sequence pictures or symbols to support retelling of a model text
- Complete two cloze activities, either orally, in writing or using symbols
- Match selected vocabulary to relevant symbols or pictures on two occasions
