Assessment criteria

What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome

The learner can:

    • Fill a bucket and prepare cleaning fluid and floor for mopping
    • Remove excess water from the mop
    • Mop large area (an entire room) to edges of walls and furniture
    • Sweep large area (an entire room) to edges of walls and furniture
    • Vacuum large area (an entire room) to edges of walls and furniture
    • Move and replace objects to clean under them (specify size and type)
    • Continue mopping, sweeping, vacuuming until all dirt removed and put in the bin
    • Clean and put away all equipment safely
    • Identify when a floor needs to be mopped, vacuumed or swept
    • Make an appropriate choice about which cleaning method to use
    • Obtain appropriate cleaning supplies for job 
    • Identify and remove stubborn dirt or stains
    • Clean appliance surfaces
    • Clean cabinet or shelf surfaces
    • Use systematic approach to clean whole surfaces 
    • Safely move items on a table to be dusted
    • Spray appropriate amounts of polish onto surface
    • Check surfaces in a room and identify the need to dust
    • Spray and wash large windows and mirrors 
    • Clean windows into corners and around edges
    • Continue cleaning until all dirt removed and no streaks visible
    • Return cleaning supplies to appropriate place
