What the learner needs to know, understand or be able to do
The learner will:
Be prepared for the flat-pack task.
Build the flat-pack safely with consideration to lifting pieces, tools and health and safety equipment.
Assessment criteria
What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome
The learner can:
- Make sure that all the flat-pack pieces are present and all holes are in the correct place, according to the instructions
- Select the correct tools for the job, including nuances such as the correct sized screwdriver
- Understand that they need to read through and understand all of the instructions before they start the task
- Select the correct tool for the specific job, using the tool appropriately and carefully; using the correct techniques and safety equipment e.g. safety glasses
- Safely handle the flat-pack pieces, making sure they ask for help to manoeuvrer the pieces if they need to and if the pieces are too heavy
- Carefully follow the instructions, in the right step-by-step order, to build the flat-pack, making sure they cover all of the construction stages
