Learning outcomes

What the learner needs to know, understand or be able to do

The learner will:

  1. Be able to understand a plant’s lifecycle.

  2. Be able to experiment with different growing conditions.

Assessment criteria

What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome

The learner can:

    • State the five stages of plant lifecycles
    • Write a simple explanation of each stage
    • Plant a seed and tend to it
    • Take photos of the stages of its lifecycle and create a poster to display findings
    • Find out the optimal growing conditions for at least two different types of plants eg a flowering plant and a vegetable
    • Carry out an experiment that tests the impact of changing one of the following variables (e.g., light, soil, water)
    • Repeat the experiment and change a different variable
    • Record and present findings to peers
    • Identify appropriate growing conditions around the centre grounds
