What the learner needs to know, understand or be able to do
The learner will:
Use emerging conventional communication.
Show awareness and engagement in activities alongside others in the community.
Assessment criteria
What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome
The learner can:
- Use individual communication strategies (e.g. eye pointing, signs, gestures, vocalisation) when taking part in two different community tasks or activities with support from adults or peers
- React to a person in the community initiating verbal communication by showing a physical response (e.g. a smile, gesture or vocalisation) on two separate occasions
- Actively explore objects and events with adults or peers for extended periods
- Notice and respond to the behaviour of other people in the community
