The learner will:

  1. Set up a new track to create a piece of music, showing knowledge of structuring this piece of music correctly.

Assessment criteria

What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome

The learner can:

    • Demonstrate setting the track to a tempo of choice, or as indicated by the imported samples
    • Set up a metronome to ensure they keep time (use as required)
    • Explain the structure of this tune considering the intro, verse, chorus, outro and ending 
    • Choose their instruments and add them to the appropriate channels
    • Check each channel has sound and the instruments can be heard
    • Explain how and where to find samples
    • Demonstrate importing a sample and bringing it in to the production
    • Demonstrate how to set the speed of the sample by using the tempo on the track, or the stretch tool in the DAW
    • Save the sample into the piece of music
    • Demonstrate how to add effects and adjust the volume of the sample
