The learner will:
Set up a new track to create a piece of music, showing knowledge of structuring the music correctly, inclusive of the position of the vocals.

Assessment criteria
What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome
The learner can:
- Demonstrate setting the track to a tempo of choice
- Set up a metronome to ensure they keep time (use as required)
- Explain the structure of this tune considering the intro, verse, chorus, outro and ending and where the vocals will be placed
- Choose their instruments and add them to the appropriate channels
- Check each channel has sound and the instruments can be heard
- Explain how this will be done
- Demonstrate that the vocal channel is abe to record the vocal using the level monitor and that sound can be heard coming in via a microphone of choice
- Demonstrate a test recording and playback to be sure
- Explain what will happen if the recorded vocals are to loud (clipping) or to low and why it is important to spend time getting this right before recording the vocals
