The learner will:

  1. Explain what is meant by musical timbre.

  2. Create different timbres on one instrument.

The learner can:

    • Communicate in their own words what musical timbre is
    • Listen to sounds and use a word bank to select words to describe the timbre
    • Listen to pieces of music and use a word bank to describe the timbre

     

    • Explore the timbre of a chosen instrument 
    • Explore the dynamic range of the instrument with consideration of how this can vary the timbre
    • Work in groups to create an accompaniment to a piece of music, thoughtfully making the timbre vary from section to section
