Explain what is meant by musical timbre.
Create different timbres on one instrument.

The learner can:
- Communicate in their own words what musical timbre is
- Listen to sounds and use a word bank to select words to describe the timbre
- Listen to pieces of music and use a word bank to describe the timbre
- Explore the timbre of a chosen instrument
- Explore the dynamic range of the instrument with consideration of how this can vary the timbre
- Work in groups to create an accompaniment to a piece of music, thoughtfully making the timbre vary from section to section
