What the learner need to demonstrate in order to meet the learning outcome
The learner can:
- Choose one type of map and explain its purpose, or when it would be used
- Explain what sort of travel or journey this map would not be suitable for, and explain why
- Choose three different symbols or features used on maps - such as contour lines, scales, or different road types; explain what they are, and how they are used
- Choose three different landmark symbols - such as churches, lakes, or places of interest; explain what these map symbols represent and, if appropriate, how the landmarks could be used to help us orientate ourselves
